ECHO 2008 Kickoff Event in Lake Worth, FL

60 skater/goalies participated in the ECHO Shootout! The competition was exciting and allowed players to show off their stuff! Congratulations to the winners:

The Tour Scorpions won the 8U division and the Boneheadz took Runner-Up. The hockey fans and ECHO staff watched these young danglers go at it. The 8U division is a constant reminder of good sportsmanship, teamwork and the future of our sport!

The Ormond Outlaws won the 10U Silver division by beating the Boneheadz Black 4 to 0. Zack Arbour scored 2 of the goals and the other 2 goals were scored by Cherokee Portman and Eli Kinzmen. Max Halverson and Eli Kinzmen each had one assist.

All eyes were on the 10U Tour Scorpions. They were a solid 8U team in 2007 and everyone wanted to see how they would keep up as a first year 10U team. Not only did they win the 10U Gold Championship, but they also won the 12U Silver Championship. The 10U Tour Scorpions played a total of 8 games this weekend in 24 hours! Can you believe they only lost one round robin game the whole weekend? I guess this answers the question as to whether they are ready to play in 2008!

Congratulations to the Runner-Up in the 10U Gold Divison – the Titans ’97! The Titans ’97 dominated their round robin games winning 9 to 1 and 6 to 1. Their third round robin was a close loss against the Tour Scorpions Black (3 to 5).

The 12U Tour Scorpions played against their younger 10U Tour Scorpions in the Championship game. The 12U Tour Scorpions took Runner-Up; the final score 4 to 5. The Tour Scorpion fans were the loudest in the rink and enjoyed watching the 2 Tour Scorpions go at it!

The Titans ’96 and Boneheadz Black battled for the 12U Gold Championship. The Boneheadz Black beat the Titans ’96 in the first round robin game 2 to 1. But, when they met again in the Championship game the Titans’ 96 dominated and took home the Championship.

The Cooper City Cowboys rallied over the Punishers in the 16U Silver Championship game. The final score 4 to 2. #99, Evan Barroso of the Cooper City Cowboys was on fire when he scored all four goals!

The 16U Gold Championship game was the final game of the night and it was great! The Phantoms vs. the Citrus Kings. 3 regulation periods were not enough to decide this contest…nor 5 minutes of sudden death overtime.  Not even the 4 skater shootout could end this match up!  The 5th shooter for The Phantoms, #27, finally put this one away with a snipe to win the sudden death shootout! The Phantoms took home the Championship! What an ending to a great weekend of hockey.
